5/14 Blog #7 Minor Improvements (A Fun Challenge for Next Week?)
Well, it seems that the progress I’ve made has its drawbacks. Though I still have much to learn and improve with when it comes to drawing, there is a strange sort of predicament I am now dealing with. I’d say that my skill level started with being the equivalent of a two-year-old trying to write its best piece of fiction. It’s awful and incomprehensible but you know the kid’s trying their best so you just kinda smile and nod. And as of right now, I think I’m actually pretty decent at drawing. I’ve learned a lot of basics and even some more advanced techniques. This does mean, though, that the progress I am making now has gone beyond basic level and is much slower. It’s easier to go from being garbage to being decent than it is to go just a step above decent since the progress to be made becomes much more refined.
So, when it comes to making small improvements in minor
details of drawing, I decided that I could continue by keeping my promise to
myself that I made last week, which involved getting just a bit better at
drawing ears. Just a bit, that’s a trend that will probably be popping up a lot
as I continue to strive for improvement. I decided to not include a drawing
with my post this week since my progress is honestly rather minimal and it
probably won’t be very interesting to look at. Having gotten better with specific
facial features I was struggling with before like ears, I want to get some more
variety going now. (Like drawing different kinds of faces.) Sooooooooo if anyone
wants me to try drawing them, email me at connorvlittle@gmail.com. If you’re
interested please send me a picture of your face for reference. Try to take
this picture from a front view with the best lighting possible. (Mr. Perlman
and Mr. Mcdaniels, you’re both very welcome to join in on this.)
Anyway, that’s all for now! I expect that next week will be
really, really fun with trying to draw a few of you. Thanks for reading, and have
a good one.
Note for Mr. Perlman and Mr. Mcdaniels: I commented on the blogs of Ethan Smith, Logan Bass, and Lucas DeTora.
ReplyDeleteEven if it's no progress or minimal, you are still learning the important steps along the way. Keep at it, and I would love for you to draw me. I'll send you a picture. Great work!
ReplyDeleteI have faced similar types of drawbacks while playing piano as well. Some things take longer than others, and I am sure the outcome will be great!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, art is really difficult to feel confident in at first. Just continue being inspired and practicing and you'll definitely see improvement.

All I can say is that setbacks are annoying, but I think they play a major role in you becoming a great drawer. If you continue to practice and show passion in your work, I think you will do great!
